A Cultural Seminar entitled “The Strategy of Sustainable Development: Egypt’s Vision 2030”

The Faculty of Management held a cultural seminar entitled “The Strategy of Sustainable Development: Egypt’s Vision 2030”, where Dr. Gameel Helmy Abdel Wahed delivered a lecture on the same topic. Dr. Gameel is an economist at The Ministry of Planning, Follow-Up and Administrative Reformation, the Coordinator of preparing the strategy of sustainable development and The Rapporteur of follow-up team which is responsible for following up the process of implementing economic development’s axis. He started his lecture explaining that, this strategy is the road map which shapes Egypt’s future the way Egyptian citizens look up to, as it was prepared by a wide societal participation. This strategy, takes into consideration all priorities and benefits which were provided by Egypt’s Constitution, 2014, and all the learnt lessons from previous distinctive studies, visions and strategies on both local and international levels. It is based on the concept of sustainable development aiming at enhancing the current quality of citizen’s life. Without breaching of the rights of future generations, thus, it includes the key dimensions of sustainable development, namely economic, social and environmental dimensions. Moreover, the lecturer explained that the strategy of sustainable development: Egypt’s vision 2030, aims at building an ambitious process to an advanced and prosperous homeland through the optimization of infrastructure and competitive advantages of the Egyptian economy and to achieve a balanced economic growth geographically, sectorial and environmentally. He pointed out that the strategy includes more than 200 programs and projects and open up many opportunities for our young people, and it is targeting that by the year 2030, Egypt will have a balanced, diversified and competitive economy which depends on innovation and knowledge, based on justice, social integration and participation. Also, Egypt will have a balanced diversified echo system that invests place and human genius to achieve sustainable development and to enhance Egyptian’s lives quality.
